Notes of the Parish Council Extraordinary General Meeting held on Monday 15th June 2026 at Skillington Village Hall at 6.30pm.
Present: Cllrs T. Seager (acting Chair), J. Selby, N. Clark, B. Headley, C. Vernon (LCC), B. Green and D. Bellamy (SKDC)
In Attendance: Mr S. and Mrs S. Burrows, Mr E. Burrows, Mrs L Page, Mr P. Elston, Mr C. Clark, Mrs S. and Miss H. Reid, Mr D. Purcell, Mrs J. Cutler, Mr C. Meads, Mr M. and Mrs H. Jackson, Mr P. Selby, Mrs L. Smith, Mr A. Bunce, Mr T. Fletcher, Mr O. Earl, Mr G Tamblyn-Jones, Mr C. Pavelin and P. Harrison (Clerk).

1. There was only one matter to be discussed at this meeting:
The Cross Swords Pub: The PC has been asked to look into registering the Cross Swords Public House as an asset of Community Value. It agreed to hold an EGM on Monday 15th June.
The SKDC Nomination form – Assets of Community Value – the Community right to bid, was looked at and the PC voted unanimously to complete this form.
Cllr Hedley proposed we concentrate on points B4 and B5 in the SKDC form, Cllr Clark seconded this proposal. The PC unanimously agreed. It was agreed to set up a Whats App group, so all interested parties could note various points and they could all be collated and sent to the Clerk, before the form is submitted. S. Burrows is the contact point for the WhatsApp Group.
Cllr Seager proposed approval to set up a working group, which allows members, who are not PC members–ie residents and/or interested parties to the village, to proceed with trying to retain the last Public House in the village. Cllr Selby seconded the motion and the PC unanimously agreed.
A show of hands of future intent was held. - D. Purcell, P. Elston, S. Burroughs, C. Clark, T. Fletcher, G. Tamblyn-Jones, C. Meads, J. Houghton, O. Earl, C. Meads, L. Page, S. Reid, J. Cutler, B. Green and C. Vernon.
Cllr Vernon advised on having a Working Group Membership.
The meeting was closed at 7.15 pm.
The next meeting of the Parish Council will be held on Monday 6th July 2026 at 6.30pm. It will be held at Skillington Village Hall.
