An Extraordinary meeting of the Parish Council was held on Friday 31st October 2025, at 6.30pm at Skillington Village Hall.
The meeting was called by the Chair, Adrian Clark and had one item: To approve LALC to complete an internal audit at the cost of £170, plus an additional £10 to include the cemetery.
1. Apologies for absence: Paul Elston.
2. The Chair explained that he had recently attended the New Councillor course by LALC and he thinks there are items which are not being performed correctly. Some examples of these were: Councillors agreeing to matters verbally, rather than raising their hands. The new website (constructed and maintained by LALC) was not accessible enough and other issues.
A full and frank discussion was held. Questions were asked by various Councillors. The matter of the cost – due to our current bank balance was also discussed. It was suggested that we look into the issues ourselves to begin with, to see if these can be rectified by the PC members.
Councillor McKee indicated that these were onerous requirements for volunteers and verbally resigned. She left the meeting at 6.50pm.
The Chair asked for a show of hands for the motion: 1 voted for the motion and 2 abstained.
We will currently not invite LALC to do the internal audit at this point.
The meeting closed at 7.10pm
The date of our next meeting is scheduled to be held on Monday 1st December 2025. It will be held in Skillington Village Hall at 6.30pm.
